Disaster Training & Volunteer Sign Up
Hillsborough County Animal Services
Recruits Pet-Friendly Shelter Volunteers
Date: Saturday, September 29, 2012
Time: 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Location: Hillsborough County Animal Services, 440 N. Falkenburg Rd., Tampa, 33619
What: Disaster Training & Volunteer Sign-Up
Due to overwhelming response, Hillsborough County Animal Services (HCAS) is offering a second Pet-Friendly Shelter Training & Volunteer Recruitment opportunity at the county shelter on Saturday, September 29 from 9 – 11 a.m.
The 2012 storm season remains active. Attendance at the above event is vital for anyone interested in serving their community before, during and/or after a disaster. Come and learn the skills required for the set up, registration, shelter assistance during evacuation, release of animals back to owners, and ultimately the breakdown and clearing of Hillsborough County’s pet-friendly shelter evacuation facilities.
Should volunteers be called upon to assist Animal Services and the community, there will be a role for each member in one or more phases of response. In order to help others, it is imperative that responders have arrangements in place for their own family and pets. All citizens, especially shelter volunteers, are kindly reminded to review those personal disaster plans now.
Attendees to the September 29 event should wear comfortable clothing and close-toed shoes, and able-bodied volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or older. Professional animal experience is not required for this event.
For more information on disaster preparedness for pets, please call 813-744-5660 or email info@hillsboroughcounty.org
