DESCRIPTION:
Scratch My Back returns (for the 26th time!)... a benefit for Friends of Hillsborough County Animal Services (FoHCAS).
FoHCAS will be holding raffles and 50/50s and have staff on hand to talk about puppy and kitty adoption.
Scratch My Back became an annual event to promote animal safety awareness and to benefit charitable organizations (most notably, FoHCAS) who help our fine furry friends.
The late Scott Peterson (drummer for the Quivering Rhythm Hounds) founded Scratch My Back roughly 27 or so years ago after a pet-sitting friend left Scott's beloved black labrador, Molly locked in a car where she passed away).
Scott passed away in 2021 shortly before Scratch My Back #25. We promised him on his deathbed that the 25th show would go on in his memory. After an impressive run of a quarter of a century we presumed that Scratch My Back would retire... but we (Scott's friends and former bandmates) have decided to continue the tradition of live music and puppy support!
At 3PM, making their second appearance at the Skipperdome:
PIECES OF EIGHT, an eight piece tribute to Chicago Transit Authority. This band is not to be missed! Phenomenal energy, full horn section, great show, DO NOT MISS THEM!
Next up (around 4 or 4:15) is the debut of
THE PALMA CEIA PLAYBOYS, featuring Scott's long time friend and bandmate, Pat Harpe of the Quivering Rhythm Hounds. Pat is joined by Lyle Russell, Beau Fisher and Danny DiPietra, all former members of "Ruben Rey & the Undercover Band".... the late Ruben Fernandez was Scott's old friend and neighbor who performed with the Undercover Band at Scratch #25!
Closing the show and cleaning up after you guys is
THE LINT ROLLERS, veteran band of many Scratch My Backs, often with Scott sitting in on double drums with Lint drummer Mike Cusumano. "George the bassist" Valaes on bass, Joey Donovan (another former Quivering Rhythm Hound) on guitar, and making a rare Linty appearance, the fourth musketeer (the D'Artagnan of the Lint Rollers) Dennis "Torpedo" Toerpe on the mighty Hammond B-3 organ.
All this and we're done and headed home by 7PM!
Suggested donation is $15 at the door. There will be raffles, gift baskets and rumor has it, FUN!
Many thanks to Skipper's Smokehouse for providing the venue for this worthy event 26 times!
